BACH MA NATIONAL
PARK
Bach
Ma National park is located approximately 50 km north
of Hue. In the 1930s, a city was located in the mountains,
but it was almost completely destroyed after the 1946
– 1954 revolution. Nowadays, all that is left
are the remmants of a city built with roman architecture
and buried under vegetation.
Bach
Ma National park is now considered as another Da Lat,
but in the centre of the country. The temperature never
goes below 4oC in the winter and the hottest summer
temperature does not exceed 26oC.
Bach
Ma National Park has a lot to offer, as much in terms
of sites to visit as landscapes to admire. fRom the
top of Hai Vong Dai, the highest peak at 1,450 m, one
can admire a fantastic view. The Grand Do Quyen Waterfall,
over 300 m high and 25 m wide, is also impressive.
Rich
vegetation and animal-life also attract many visitors.
The park is home to 233 species of birds and 55 species
of mammals, as well as extensive scientific research
is also carried out here.

Hai Van Pass. Two feelings are usually experienced:
amazement at passing through the clouds and fear of
the dangerous bends of the road.

of the ocean clouds”, as the peak of the mountain
is above cloud level while its foot is close to the
sea.
From
the top of Hai Van Pass, one can admire Lang Co Beach
to the north and Da Nang to the south. Endless forests
stretch out west of the pass and the ocean is to the
east.
The
government has approvaed a project to build an 8 km

MARBLE MOUNTAINS
The
Marble Mountains, also called Ngu hanh Son or Mountains
of the Five Elements, consit of five peaks: Thuy Son
(water) which is the highest, Moc Son (wood), Kim Son
(metal), Tho Son (soil) and Hoa Son (fire). They are
located 12 km west of Da Nang.
Thuy
Son has developed into a popular tourist resort because
of its alluring beauty. Stone steps carved into the
mountain lead to Tam Thai Pagoda and Huyen Khong Cave.
In the past, the pagoda paid tribute to Hindo and Buddhist
gods and is now dedicated to Cham deities. Huyen Khong
Cave was a base for Vietnamese revolutionaries during
times of war.
The
Marble Mountains are famous for traditional pratices
of stone engraving. In Dong Hai villages, close to Thuy
Son, 600 families chisel statues, jewellery and art
works. Stone from the Marble Mountains has been exported
to many countries.
One
of the more popular beaches in Vietnam is located 2
km from the mountains and 10 km from Da Nang, which
is convenient for those visitors wishing to climb and
swim.

BA

Vang, 35 km from Da Nang to the southwest and at an
altitude of 1,487 m above sea level. The temperature
only varies between 17 and 20OC throughout the year.

PERFUME RIVER
- NGU MOUNTAIN
The
Perfume River, Huong Giang in Vietnamese, has two main
sources in the Truong Son Mountains: The Ta Trach and
Huu Trach rivers. It is 30 km long and features an extremely
slow current as the water is at almost the same level
as the sea.
The
river runs through the villages of Kim Long, Nguyet
Bieu, Vy Da, Dong Ba, Gia Hoi and Bao Vinh.
The
view on both sides is magnificent with the citadel,
gardens, pagodas, towers and temples; their reflection
on the water makes the river even more poetic. Many
locals think that Hue has such peaceful, gentle and
tranquil landscapes because of the Perfume River.

DALAT
Dalat
is located in Lam Dong Province, approximately 200 km
northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. At an elevation of 1,500
m, Dalat bears the look of an old French city as colonialists
chose it as a popular vacation spot away from the heat
of the rest of the South. It was founded in 1897 when
Doctor Alexandre Yersin recommended that the area be
developed as a resort town.
Dalat has many natural and artificial lakes such as
Ho Xuan Huong, Than Tho, Da Thien and Tuyen Lam. They
are bordered by lines of pine trees, a well –
known feature of the area.

very suitable for growing flowers such as orchids, roses,
lilies and camellias.
Nowadays,

visit the area of the Lanbian Highlands and the local
ethnic minorities. The Langbian Mountains’ highest
peak at 2,165 m is very tempting for climbers. From
Long Bien Klo, one can view endless green mountains
